It is currently WINTER in WESTEROS during the year 303 AC. The new moon cycle marks a full twenty years since the Mad King was murdered, and his son King Rhaegar ascended the Iron Throne in his place. Though the year is fresh, war in the Narrow Sea has left the Free Cities of Volantis and Tyrosh in ashes, and the Long Night continues to beckon from the Northern fringes of the Seven Kingdoms. With the Queen Lyanna presumed dead, the citizens of the realms look only to each other for survival.

Returning to Kings Landing was a depressing action for the newly widowed princess. After her initial grief and pain she fell into the typical depression that one experiences when loosing their husband. Though she had long accepted the fact that there was nothing that could be done. Willas was gone with the Stranger and she was left to walk among the living. She did not smile. She did not enjoy the hard won victory. In fact she did not associate with anyone other than Viserys and those that came to see him. She slept in his bed like she had once done when they were children or she slept next to Vaelyx. Her moods would only serve to put a damper on the hard work that the warrior had done to win their battle. When she was able to set her grief aside for a few moments she responded to ravens, planned the return of Willas' body to Highgarden, or looked towards her future. She had no indication of where her life was now headed. With a dead husband and no child in her womb, her stay at Highgarden was pointless. The idea of wedding Willas' younger brother, Garlan, had crossed her mind as a political move on Mace Tyrell's part but she doubted he would propose it. Dany had not provided children and thus Mace had little use of her. Plus Dany was unsure if she could ever open her heart the way she had with Willas to anyone ever again. Mentally she was constructing a wall around it that was meant to be impenetrable.

As soon as Viserys was well enough she begged him to take her back to Kings Landing. Together they mounted up Drax and Vaelyx to make the journey back across the Narrow Sea and towards home. There was no large welcome party since it was only the two of them. Dany preferred it that way as word of Willas' death had likely reached them. She walked with her eyes on the ground and quickly through the halls to her bed chambers. From there she crawled into her bed and slept a deep and silent sleep. Barely rousing for the servants that entered and left her chambers either with fresh food or drink or to ask if the princess needed anything. 'Princess Dany Targaryen". Her family name returned to her like an old familiar gown. The servants would not call her Targaryen openly to her face but she knew that sooner or later her old name would return. After a full day of rest, Dany finally rose from bed to take a warm bath and to dress in a gown for the first time in what felt like weeks. Between the stillbirth and riding off to war she had not felt the softness of such feminine apparel. Granted she selected black to show that she was in mourning. Her wedding ring and Willas' strung up on a gold chain together that hung around her neck. Her hand constantly touching it or reaching for it.

Eventually the time came for Dany to face the situation that was awaiting her in Highgarden. Watching the servants pack up Willas' belonging did nothing to improve her mood. They moved quickly to basically erase all traces of her husband. After an hour or so of watched, Dany could no longer take it. Leaving the room and walking through the hall until she could feel the sunlight on her cheeks. It was really the first time she had left her bedchambers since her initial arrival at Kings Landing yet she hoped to avoid people. A task that would be basically impossible. Where she moved she passed either a guard or a servant tending to their daily routine. Thankfully they paid her little mind, expect for the respectful bow. She hoped that they understood her need for solitude. She hoped that they did not take her actions personally as she was still in mourning. The simple black gown signified that along with her generally less than stellar appearance.

As she moved she found the gardens were she used to play as a child and where she and Willas first began their betrothal. He proposed in what would be considered an ancient manner by royal betrothal standards. He knelt down at her feet and offered her a gorgeous ring while begging for her to marry him. Even if the betrothal had been set in stone with paper and alliances, Willas still asked her. Something she appreciated and gladly said yes to him. They were in love ever since. Her grip on the rings around her neck tightened as she passed by the stop where it had happened. Quickly passing by until she found a more isolated area. Except the area that she had expected to be isolated was not. There was a woman there that Dany immediately knew as her brother's wife and Queen of Westeros. What was she supposed to do? Was this a situation that called for formally such as bowing and greeting her grace? She was at a loss. Dany was once again a princess. However before her was a Queen and her sister by law.

Deciding it was best to speak rather than be silent. "Good afternoon your grace." She said. "I am sorry if I am disturbing you. I thought this area to be isolated and quiet." Maybe she needed to reintroduce herself to the political aspect of court and such. Perhaps after the funeral. For now she could barely handle this social interaction. "I can leave you to your thoughts if you would prefer."

Rivlets of bathwater cascaded down her back, tracing the very bumps of her spine and encasing her a warmth that not even a lovers embrace could fill her with. With water lapping about her stomach, a sheen of sweat dappled her forehead and receded into her hairline from the hearty steam that rose from the waters edge. Filling the air with such weight that it almost plagued the lungs to draw too heavy a breath, the sweet smelling oils suffused the scent, clinging to her skin in a way that none else could. Not nothing was pure enough to wash away the reek of death about her, no oils from the Summer Seas or sage torn from their godswood would erase the crime that was imprinted on her very being. Guilt even consumed her for admitting her doings to her husband, which, by his very law should earn her death, or at least banishment if it were to come to light. Unsure what she had done to deserve his sheltering protection, Lorainna could not even consider herself worthy of it. Yet she did not rebuke it all the same, which in turn made her all the more despicable.

The length of her rose coloured hair spilled across her shoulders in wet coils, towelled dry by the expert hands of Val, who chatted as easily as she breathed about the excitement that coursed through her about the trial, Lora was beginning to find it harder to retreat into the fortress of her mind. Rising from the water, mildly observing the steam that rose from her glowing and flushed flesh as the droplets shimmered in the amber light of the torches. Feeling all too inflamed by the heated touch of boiled water, even after she had found far too many layers to line her form, it was not a decision at all to find herself excused to walk the gardens. Air, no matter how desolate or chilled it was, could be what she needed right at this moment.

With the weight of furs about her shoulders, the unfamiliar sensation tickled her chin with a soft, almost playful caress. The landscape had almost turned a pitiful shade of blue, save for the red topped houses with tiny chimneys suffused to their very extremities, billowing smoke into the evergrey sky. This was the city that hungered for blood, starved of the very thought. Docile from peace for too long that they poked and prodded at any scandal that came to light, willing it into being and almost provoking it to its full height. She had seen the crowds that had gathered for Tryion Lannister. Would they come to see her fall if her own sins came to light? Of that she had no doubt. “Good afternoon your grace." Interrupting her musing of the city, hands braced against the stone wall that prevented her from an unfortunate fall, Lorainna turned, surprised at the voice, and perhaps even still the title. “Princess,” Accent manipulating the word to its own liking.

Understanding filling her cobalt gaze as she looked upon the violet princess before her, her brother expressing his worries on the woman who bore no scars but had been wounded most dreadfully in the very war she had just stepped from. “Let us be alone together.” Shifting to the side, allowing room along the narrow walk with a simmer of a smile stretching across the surface of her lips. “Seems we both had the same idea about this place, no?” It was hard to find silence in a city that never slept, even when one did it could hardly be drowned by her own thoughts, constricted into her very being and almost overshadowing everything else. Having no idea in how to reach out and offer consolidation to a good sister she did not know, “Is easier to ache and remember alone than in the presence of others… even loved ones.” For while they often wished to help the most, one could only pretend to be fine for so long. “He… he will never be lost in the walls of your heart, his memories will hold you close where others can not.” Offering advice where it had not been asked felt awkward and ill fitting, yet Lorainna felt the need to extend the olive branch, aching for a kindred spirit amongst the dragons that seemed to intent to shun her for a choice that was not hers to make and a roll that was not hers to play.

The winter snows had laid a calming blanket over the city. One might not think that only days ago they were on the brink of war with how scene the city beneath them felt. She wondered if there would be snow in the Free Cities to also calm the madness that had ensued. She thought a fair bit about the Free Cities since her departure from them. How would they fair now that they were in ruins? Would the King off to help them rebuild under his watchful guidance? Someone with the King's best interest should at heart. Perhaps this was her new purpose. But then again her only purpose now was to bury her husband in Highgarden and deal with the after math of the Tyrell family. She planned to make her journey soon but without her dragon so it would be a long while before she was there. It would give her time to further consider this option and purpose to give her life meaning again. Dany believed that having a purpose and direction would help to solve or end her grief, though she was still in mourning and was not about to rush through the very painful process. She hoped that her brother had properly grieved for Lyanna before taking part in this new marriage.

Sadly Dany knew so little about her brother's new wife. She was now family, which meant that she needed to be treated as such. Her manners had gone out the window in all of her grief and her other distractions. Her mother had taught her better than that. It was now time to rectify all that she had missed out on and get to know her new good sister. Pray for friendship with the girl with strange colored hair that Dany secretly admired. Though she understood little of the colors or the reasons why they dyed their hair, it seemed like it would be fun to change one's outward appearance so freely. Perhaps once things had settled then Dany would follow in her good sister's footsteps. Or perhaps not. The culture of those across the Narrow sea was so foreign to her and she did not wish to offend or mis speak when talking about it.

This chance encounter would likely be good for both of them. It was about time for Dany to actually interact with people rather than hiding away in her grief. Court would be too public but she was unsure about her new good sister. "I suppose that some maester would contemplate and offer the question of Are we really alone if we are together?. But I did not come out here to contemplate the complexities of words." It had been to be a light comment yet she was not sure how it sounded once she had said it. But she quickly spoke again to further explain herself. "My apologies... I have been a bit snippy lately. I would love to share in your company." She responded softly before moving to stand by her good sister's side.

The Queen's words caught her off guard. No one dared to offer such words about Willas. Most just avoided the subject of her late husband all together. Casting her gaze downward towards her feet as the words sunk in for a moment. Willas would always be alive in her heart. Though she would never hold him again nor could she take comfort in a child with its father's hair color or eyes. The reality was that she had nothing of Willas. The ring he wore as a sign of their marriage and the fond memories of him. But she had cried enough in the wake of his loss. Her words did not stir tears as they previously might have though she felt a lump in her throat. Clearing it away before speaking so that Queen Lorainna would not hear the trace of it. "Thank you for those kind words. It comforts me to hear that and I pray that the Seven welcome him with open arms." Her faith was not as important to her but she liked to believe that once the Stranger took her then she would be reunited with Willas. Knowing that she would see him and love him again gave her a bit of strength where she could not find any. But she did not wish to dwell on her loss much further. Slowly her gaze traveled up from her feet and towards the woman that she shared her space with. Finally looking at her brother's wife and taking in her beauty for what it was.

They should be friends. Dany had been friendly with Lyanna though they had not been around one another much due to Dany's age and then her marriage. But Lorainna was approximately the same as and this time Dany would be in Kings Landing. Both women likely needed a friend, though the Queen did have ladies in waiting to consider her friends. But alliances and friendships were a good thing. And again they were family now.

"I must apologize that I have been so distant since your marriage to my brother. I should have better welcomed you to our family. Hopefully you feel welcomed and comfortable. Does my brother treat you well?" There was genuine concern in her voice. Rheagar could be a difficult man as was the nature of feeling the weight of the world upon his shoulders. When she had been in Highgarden the weight of political turmoil had fallen off of her shoulders. It was replaced with the need to procreate but that weight was nothing compared to the tonnage of political chaos. After the funeral she planned to acclimate herself to the political landscape of Kings Landing and serve to help her brother bear some of the weight.
