It is currently WINTER in WESTEROS during the year 303 AC. The new moon cycle marks a full twenty years since the Mad King was murdered, and his son King Rhaegar ascended the Iron Throne in his place. Though the year is fresh, war in the Narrow Sea has left the Free Cities of Volantis and Tyrosh in ashes, and the Long Night continues to beckon from the Northern fringes of the Seven Kingdoms. With the Queen Lyanna presumed dead, the citizens of the realms look only to each other for survival.
[x] SURPRISE! Please enjoy our new skin, and let the staff know if you find any bugs! (Shelbs accidentally overwrote the old skin and posted this too soon so it's entirely possible the dumbass she forgot some things!)

Aelix Targaryen

Prince of Westeros, Commander of the City Watch

There were very few good omens surrounding Lyanna's pregnancy with Aelix, and even fewer when he was finally born. Though he came out wailing and gluttonous for milk, it left his mother bedridden for weeks - and that is not counting the many times he left her ill whilst still in the womb. Rigid and reclusive, the boy was not easy to raise and was even harder to please, and was prone to the very same melancholic mood swings that his father was so well known for. As a child he disliked public gatherings or celebrations, and had very specific tastes in music that only certain bards and minstrels could play. Though he was indulged, for the most part, he was not allowed to lash out or behave wildly, and would be sent to his own chambers with his siblings if he became too emotional.

It has taken a long, long time, but with his family's love and his father's diligence, Aelix is slowly beginning to show the makings of a true Targaryen prince. (However, I can't say the death of his mother has helped that any.) Though he struggled long and hard to form a bond with his crazy ass unpredictable dragon, there was no stopping the pair once it was finally made, and the two are hardly without each other during daylight hours. Rhaegar intended to start out slow with Aelix's training, and began with making him the squire to Kingsguard Ser Barristan Selmy... who likely beat the crap out of him on a daily basis. It was not long after that did he appoint Aelix to be one of the two Deputy Wardens of the Kingswood, where he was responsible for protecting the King's game, assigning knights to patrol the forests for bandits, and bringing to justice any illegal poachers.

For well over a year he served in such capacity, up until his father summoned his banners and called forth the entire royal family to war. While Aelix's siblings, aunt and uncle flew their beasts to Tyrosh, the youngest dragon remained behind, helping the King with keeping the city under control in the City Watch's absence. He and Andracarr quelled many riots that threatened to ruin King's Landing, and was a beacon of resolve during such tumultuous times. It was these efforts and display of leadership that finally earned Aelix his knighthood, kneeling to Barristan Selmy's sword upon the knight's return from Tyrosh. Appointed then as Commander of the City Watch, the youngest Prince seems to have finally started making a name for himself.

Now to just tell the boy that he's betrothed to Margaery Tyrell...

Viserys Targaryen

Prince of Westeros, Sworn Brother of the Kingsguard

It's almost hard to think that Viserys was the Mad King's desired heir, and very well could have been were Aerys successful in doing away with Rhaegar. Regardless, this never impacted the way Rhaegar felt about his little brother, and fought their father at every turn to try and be more apart of his life. He was highly protected, however, not even allowed to receive gifts from other lords and ladies of the realms, and with Rhaegar living on Dragonstone, it was not often the two got to see each other. Still, whenever he paid visits to King's Landing, Viserys was one of the first people he'd go to, and no doubt it brightened up his world each time big bro came home.

Only six years old when the Mad King was murdered, you can say he was finally.. freed, in a way. Rhaegar looked after him like he would his own children, and even made him his own squire once Viserys came of age. His dragon was the third to hatch, and he was quick to form a fierce bond with the gold and cream-colored beast, easily proving himself to be a highly skilled dragonrider as the two of them grew over the years. Though appointed to the Kingsguard when he was 22, there have been plots with previous members in the past that involved Viserys having a romantic attachment to their sister Daenerys, however that shall be up to the player who makes him once more!

Fiercely proud of his Targaryen name and endlessly loyal to the Iron Throne, Viserys will do just about anything to protect his blood and birthrights. His dragon, Drax, is an equally fearsome beast, yet seems to share the same diligence as his rider, as well. A trusted adviser to his brother the King and a fine, formidable swordsman, Prince Viserys is sworn for life to uphold and protect the Targaryen dynasty. One of the many dragonriders that were there for the sack of Tyrosh, he did not return without injury, and you can find what he suffered HERE!

26 / Charlie Hunnam

Jon Connington

Hand of the King, Lord of Griffin's Roost

If one could be apart of the royal family without actually being royal, it would be Jon and his House, so close is he to Rhaegar that the two are often rarely seen apart. Inseparable since they were but squires under Ser Gerold Hightower, the dragon and griffin are as brotherly and comradely as one could possibly be without sharing actual blood. Trusted with his secrets, the Iron Throne, his children and the whole of the Seven Kingdoms, no doubt Jon shares a huge amount of power with his silver prince, standing as not only the Lord Protector's second-in-command, the general of the royal armies and his unblooded brother, but perhaps the very backbone of the Small Council itself. He is a personal line of defense between the King and his flatterers, a supporter and advisor, as well as has a full license to speak freely with his liege on any given day or time. Truly, Rhaegar would throw himself on a sword for this man, and vice versa. The affection between these two is something for the bards to sing about, which I'm sure is why there are some that even believe Jon is actually in love with "his Silver Prince."

Alongside Arthur Dayne, he is one of the two defacto uncles to Rhaegar's children, each of them having a direct and individual influence from Jon himself. His own children, as well, are very close with the members of the royal family, and it is only safe to assume their two Houses will forever be intertwined, whether by deep friendship or eventual marriage, it would not matter. Nothing can separate Targaryen from Connington since these two ascended the Iron Throne together. Even though Jon recently lost his second son in the battles that riddled the Stormlands, he remains perhaps even more immersed in his duties as Rhaegar's Hand, knowing he could very well lose another (and his last) son if the wrong wars are waged and the wrong people are allowed to whisper in his Silver Prince's ear.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT SO MANY GODDAMNED FEELS. PLEASE MAKE HIM BEFORE I DIE

41 / Gwilym Pugh

Arthur Dayne

Sword of the Morning, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard

Arthur might as well be apart of the family, so close to Rhaegar that he is often referred to by him as his unblooded brother. If there were three keys to the Seven Kingdoms, you can bet it would be Rhaegar, Arthur and Jon to hold them. They might as well, anyway. Having first met as young boys when they were just squires to Gerold "The White Bull" Hightower, it did not take long for them to form an inseparable kinship. It was mostly due to Rhaegar and Gerold's machinations that saw Aerys appointing him to the Kingsguard, and it was mostly Rhaegar that Arthur ever found himself beside when standing vigil. While their friendship was seriously tested during the times that the Mad King abused Rhaella (since Rhaegar initially blamed the Kingsguard for not protecting her, and Arthur, too,) their bonds remained and it was Arthur who, in the end, saved Elia from Aerys' grips and smuggled her to safety in Dorne.

He was appointed almost immediately to Lord Commander of the Kingsguard upon Rhaegar's ascension, succeeding his own mentor Gerold Hightower after he was slain the Sack of King's Landing. It was not an easy first few years, for almost all of the realm's superb fighting men had died in the war, and the rest were not as eager to put forth their names for the brotherhood. When Princess Elia was murdered under Ser Jonothor Darry's charge, Arthur had to take the man's head for his failure, shortening his ranks even more... and that s u c k e d. Still, together, they were able to rebuild the Kingsguard one by one, and though some came and went over the years, they will not go without a full seven ever again.

As someone who had a major hand in the raising of all the royal princes and princesses, you can say Arthur might even be referred to as Uncle by many of them. A mentor to Aegon and Valarr, it was he who first thrust weapons in their hands and shoved them into the training yards, even entertaining Princess Visenya with her own martial desires. House Targaryen's greatest champion, Arthur is as revered as he is loved.

LOYAL

to the end

Myles Mooton

The King's Steward, Knight of Maidenpool

Right at fourteen years of age, young Myles was selected to be the newly-knighted Prince Rhaegar's first squire. As the second son of Maidenpool, he was not in line to inherit his family's seat, and instead was given the glory of King's Landing and the ultimate honor of learning and training in the Silver Prince's shadow. With only three years separating the two, the pair actually garnered a trusting friendship, and though Rhaegar was still his mentor, he became more of a brother and confidant to the boy of Maidenpool. He officially knighted Myles during the Tourney at Harrenhal, it was only during the War of the Seven that he was actually asked to come with Rhaegar and Lyanna to Dorne, accompanying Ser Oswell Whent and Richard Lonmouth to the Red Mountains. Upon Rhaegar's ascension, he appointed Myles to the very tedious and important position of King's Steward, entrusting him with the management of the entire royal household, and has served dutifully ever since.

As far as his personal life goes, that would be completely up to the member who makes him! The King would have happily arranged a noble match for him in the past, perhaps even to one of the Queen's ladies if you'd like, or he can easily remain unmarried because I mean let's be real, managing the King's household is like a marriage in itself.

The steward's role involves managing the household for the king, overseeing a wide number of aspects and drawing from the king's personal household funds to see it take place. He oversees the servants, he helps arrange the king's daily schedule of audiences and meetings, he helps arrange the logistical aspects when the king chooses to travel outside of the city. The steward is a closely-trusted aide who alleviates many of the day-to-day tasks the king would otherwise have to see to. This a Major Office. -Westeros.org, Blood of Dragons Articles

Lorent Banefort

Heir to the Banefort, Squire to King Rhaegar

The eldest of the King's three squires, Lorent has spent at least the past year expecting to earn his knighthood. Having distinguished himself as an attentive page, servant and squire, he is still a bit brash when in the ring with fellow opponents, and only won some rounds at the tourneys at Lannisport, Dorne and Summerhall because of a few dirty tricks up his sleeve. He is not a troublemaker or outwardly disrespectful, but he believes he will do whatever it takes to win a name or earn glory for himself. He has grown up watching princes and princesses on dragonback and sometimes feels a bit competitive with them, and can become a bit overzealous sometimes in his attempts to be noticed.

Lorent was first sent to King's Landing as Rhaegar's page at ten years old. At thirteen, he was officially made his squire, and has been training ever since. Though hungry for glory, he has always had an appetite for the fairer sex, and is even known to bugger with some of the royal ladies in waiting. He has no qualms with courting multiple young women at once, and with an all-too charming smile, he is often presented with potential matches from his father in the Banefort. One can only imagine why he has so far rebuffed them all...

There are many opportunities for him at the palace, and he would have gone with the King on every progression he's made this year. (Lannisport, Sunspear and Summerhall.) Having grown up surrounded by the princes and Kingsguard, Lorent could very well be a skilled swordsman in his own right, being very familiar with the famous knights of the realm that serve the King. He would be a delight to have around, as Rhaegar could still use to knock talk some sense into him!

18 / Lucas Medeiros

Theo Charlton

Heir to House Charlton, Squire to King Rhaegar

Consumed with anger issues as a child, Theo's parents believed forcing him to court by the age of nine would shapen him into an heir worth his father's name. In some truth, he has greatly improved since he was younger, but Theo still has temporary fits whenever he loses to Lorent or another squire of the palace, and has even been known to try and argue with the King a few times. However it is Rhaegar that sympathizes the closest with him, and is really the one that has helped Theo the most over the years, not letting the boy's temper define who he is as a man.

Otherwise Theo has all the makings of a good knight, once he is ready. He is good with an axe and on a horse, but in truth, seems to enjoy being a squire more than he would earning the responsibility of his silver spurs. He is pretty close with the King, trusts him and looks up to him like a father, and knows Rhaegar isn't prepared to give him a woman yet, much less the title of Ser. He is content with that, however, for deep down, Theo knows he has much to learn and a long way to go before he himself feels deserving of the King's dubbing.

Despite that, the boy continues to have his own freewill, and rumors swirl that he has been secretly involved with Princess Rhaenna's Mistress of Keys, Tayce Paege. Seemingly the only one that can soothe or calm him, he's found himself almost obsessed with her. Since the girl's departure to High Tide after the Princess's marriage, however, Theo feels moody again, if not angrier, and feels some defiance in his role to Rhaegar. If only the King would knight him, perhaps he could sail to Driftmark and win Tayce's hand in marriage on his own...

17 / Ryley Lanteigne

Olyvar Oakheart

Heir to Old Oak, Squire to King Rhaegar

Grandson of Arthur Oakheart, former Master of Coin to the Mad King, Olyvar is the youngest and least troubled of the King's squires. Though he is quiet for a boy his age, he is surprisingly talented with a sword and shocks most onlookers once he is in the ring. Known for being a young man of few words but many actions, there is talk of Olyvar earning his knighthood before the other, older squires he serves beside, and because of that, is not very close with either Lorent or Theo. He is a favored pupil of Rhaegar's and is even enjoyed by knights like Arthur Dayne and Barristan Selmy, and has plenty of ladies swooning after him - much to the chagrin of Lorent.

The boy is peculiarly honorable, and as nephew to Lord Arys of Old Oak, he prides himself in his old House and trains diligently for the day he may have to inherit. Though it is not something he wishes for, as he hopes his uncle soon marries and has children, Olyvar is one to map, plan and organize, down to the very minute details of his day. It is getting more difficult, however, to withstand the affections of all the young girls that like to fawn over him while he's in the training yards...
